Some films arrive with red carpets, giant marketing campaigns and a nationwide release. Idiocracy was quietly released into only a small number of cinemas almost twenty years ago, then did the sensible thing: it waited for the world to catch up.
In the years since, Mike Judge, the creator of Beavis and Butt-Head and Office Space, has seen his comedy build a huge cult following and develop an uncomfortable reputation for predicting the future. Not necessarily in the big ways, but certainly in the Crocs, energy drinks and entertainment-first governance ways.

When completely average army librarian Joe Bauers is selected for a military hibernation experiment, he expects to wake up one year later. Instead, he emerges 500 years later into a society where intelligence has become extremely unfashionable.
Crops are watered with sports drink, television has reached its natural conclusion and Joe is somehow now the smartest person alive. He may also be the only person capable of fixing anything.

Join Cult Classic Lismore at the Star Court Theatre as we celebrate a film that barely made it into cinemas, but somehow made its way into reality.

Welcome to the future. It's got what the people want.

What else is on?
